Category Winners for David Manley Emerging Entrepreneur Awards 2012
A woman who developed an App for people with autism, two men who have created the first ever global online food safety software and a couple who create theatre for family audiences will contest the overall prize in the 2012 David Manley Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year Award on Thursday 2nd February.
The Arts, Business and Social Category Winners - each of whom will now contest for the Overall Winner's Prize - are:
Social Category: Grace App
Lisa Domican, who created the Grace App with her daughter, Grace. The Grace App helps people with communication difficulties, including autism, acquired brain injury and stroke, to communicate their needs independently. Lisa is the David Manley Emerging Social Entrepreneur for 2012
Business Category: Safefood 360
- George Howlett & Philip Gillen of Safefood 360 which enables food processing plants to set up, record, manage and report on all aspects of their food safety system necessary to meet legal and commercial compliance requirements. George and Philip are the David Manley Emerging Business Entrepreneurs for 2012
Arts Category: Theatre Lovett
Louis Lovett & Muireann Ahern, joint artistic directors of Theatre Lovett – purveyors of Fine Theatre for Children, Women and Men and offering ‘theatre as adventure’. Louis and Muireann are the 2012 David Manley Emerging Arts Entrepreneurs.
The Awards will be presented at the offices of Mason Hayes & Curran, Southbank House, Barrow Street, Dublin at 12 noon on 2nd February by ‘Dragon’ and owner of Harmonia Publishing, Norah Casey and by Dr. Chris Horn, Chair of the judging panel. The Awards carry a prize package of more than €100,000 comprising €10,000 in cash and over €90,000 in mentoring.
The David Manley Emerging Entrepreneur Award honours the enterprising spirit across the spectrum of the Arts, Business and Social sectors. The Award is in its ninth year and continues to go from strength to strength. It was established by a group of David Manley’s friends in the Dublin Chamber of Commerce to honour his contribution to, encouragement and mentoring of entrepreneurs during his short life time.
