Dublin Chamber to Continue Support of David Manley Awards

Dublin Chamber of Commerce is delighted to continue its involvement with the David Manley Emerging Entrepreneur Awards in 2012. The awards, now in their 9th year, were established by a group of the late David Manley’s friends in the Dublin Chamber of Commerce to honour his mentoring of entrepreneurs during his lifetime. David was President of the Chamber in 2000.

And Journalist and Broadcaster, Tom McEnaney wins the 3rd “David Manley Media Award”

A couple whose business and creative output has been described as “the theatrical equivalent of going to bed on Christmas Eve” has won the 2012 David Manley Emerging Entrepreneur Award.  Louis Lovett and Muireann Ahern run Theatre Lovett, which offers ‘Theatre as Adventure’ for children and the young-at-heart!’

Louis and Muireann win €10,000 in cash and over €100,000 worth of mentoring and consultancy services from a variety of blue chip companies - aiming to bring them up another step on the ladder to business success.  They are the ninth winners of the David Manley Emerging Entrepreneur Awards.

The couple has ambitious plans to expand their actor training programme throughout Ireland and internationally in the specialty that is children’s theatre.  Lovett says, “It is critical that actors are upskilled to ensure that children and young audiences get the very best and more specifically, for the ‘Holy Grail’ of catering to young and old in the one audience.The aim of the David Manley Emerging Entrepreneur Awards is to nurture and recognise the enterprising spirit in Business, the Arts and in Social/community.  It has become the premier award in Ireland for emerging enterprises.   The two runners-up this year were Lisa Domican, GraceApp (winner of the Emerging Social Entrepreneur category) and George Howlett and Philip Gillen, Safefood360 (winner of the Emerging Business Entrepreneur category.) They each receive €1,000 in cash and mentoring.
 
David Manley Media Award:
The third David Manley Media Award’ was presented today and was awarded to journalist and broadcaster, Tom McEnaney.  Tom was commended on his “dedication and commitment to regular coverage of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurs.”   The judges for this Award were Dr. Chris Horn, Dr. Thomas Cooney, Director - Institute for Minority Entrepreneurship at DIT and Nicola Byrne, founder and managing director of 11890.  The David Manley Media Award is run with the support of Kantar Media and Client Services Director, Samantha Rowntree presented Tom with his Award.
